West Ham United captain Kevin Nolan has claimed that he understands why supporters are nervous as the club tries to secure its Premier League survival.
The Hammers need just one more point from their remaining two games to stay in the top flight for another season.
Despite the team being almost safe, fans at Upton Park have been eager to voice their concerns in recent weeks following a run of four consecutive defeats.
When asked if he understands why there is discontent in the stands, Nolan told the club's official website: "Of course, because we're nervous as well. We need them to be as much behind us as we are behind them.
"We understand that they have their own opinions and they are entitled to them - they pay to come and watch us. You have to take that as a footballer."
West Ham are back in action on Saturday when they host Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
