Danny Ings scores a second-half brace to help West Ham United record a 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Danny Ings scored a second-half brace to help West Ham United record a 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The 30-year-old, who arrived at the London Stadium from Aston Villa in January, made the breakthrough in the 70th minute before scoring a second two minutes later.

Declan Rice then came up with a third for David Moyes's side in the 78th minute before Michail Antonio added a fourth late on, as the hosts moved out of the relegation zone and into 16th position in the Premier League table with a commanding win.

West Ham made the brighter start to the contest and had a half-chance in the fifth minute when the ball fell for Angelo Ogbonna inside the Forest box, but the centre-back dragged his effort wide.

The Hammers then hit the post in the 11th minute, with Lucas Paqueta's strike deflecting off Ings and then Felipe before striking the woodwork.

Jarrod Bowen was the player causing problems, with Forest finding it difficult to contain the forward, while Vladimir Coufal was also having a big impact for the hosts, and the defender's cross was headed just wide of the away side's goal by Ings in the 23rd minute.

Said Benrahma was next to try his luck for West Ham, missing the post with a low effort in the 28th minute, before Forest had a penalty shout late in the first period when Brennan Johnson went down under pressure from Ben Johnson, but neither the referee nor VAR were interested.

Both teams lacked quality in the final third in the opening half of action, but the Hammers shaded the first 45 minutes, with Forest struggling to carve out opportunities in the capital.

West Ham again hit the post in the 55th minute, with Bowen seeing his low effort come off the woodwork before Paqueta fired over the crossbar; Forest then went down the other end and came close through Brennan Johnson, who missed the post with a low strike.

The Hammers made the breakthrough in the 70th minute of the contest through Ings, who converted from close range after Bowen had scuffed a shot towards the far post.

Three minutes later, Ings had his second, with the January arrival netting from inside the box after Benrahma had delivered a low cross.

Moyes's side then made sure of the points in the 78th minute through Rice, who picked out the far corner with a brilliant effort from just outside the box.

The home team were not finished, though, scoring a fourth in the 85th minute through Antonio, with the substitute heading a cross from Pablo Fornals into the back of the net.

Next up for West Ham is a trip to Manchester United in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday, before returning to league action away to Brighton & Hove Albion next Saturday.

Forest, meanwhile, were knocked out of the FA Cup by Blackpool, so the Reds will not be back in action until next Sunday at home to Everton in the Premier League.
