Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan 'accepts misconduct charge over comments'

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan reportedly accepts an FA misconduct charge in relation to comments that he made about Jewish and Chinese people.

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has reportedly accepted an FA charge of misconduct in relation to comments that he made about Jewish and Chinese people.

The 78-year-old was charged by the governing body after he described Chinese people as "chinks" and claimed that Jewish people "chase money" in an interview with The Guardian.

According to Sky Sports News, Whelan, who recently appointed former Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay, has accepted the charge, but insists that he was misquoted and misrepresented.

Whelan previously stated that he would step down from his role at Wigan should he be found guilty.
