Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez is keen on a loan move for Mexican striker Aldo de Nigris, according to talkSPORT.
The Latics strike force consisting of Arouna Kone, Franco di Santo and Mauro Boselli has only managed 10 goals between them this season, forcing the Spaniard to seek extra firepower up front.
The Lancashire outfit are struggling in the Premier League relegation zone.
De Nigris scored six goals in 22 appearances for Monterrey last season, and also scored his team's only goal in their Club World Cup defeat to Chelsea in December.
The 29-year-old has won 20 caps for his country, scoring eight goals.
