Luiz Gustavo: 'Trophy a gift for Wolfsburg'

Luiz Gustavo believes that Wolfsburg were worthy winners of the DFB-Pokal and calls the trophy a "gift" after a long season.

Wolfsburg midfielder Luis Gustavo believes that winning the DFB-Pokal was a fitting end to their season.

Jurgen Klopp's departure from Borussia Dortmund was soured as Wolfsburg ran out 3-1 victors in yesterday's final.

Gustavo claimed that Wolfsburg were the better side and were rewarded after a long season in which they also finished second in the Bundesliga.

Eurosport quotes Gustavo as saying: "It's always nice to win a trophy. Today we deserved it. We gave everything we had to reach this goal and it was a gift for the whole season, we have to be very happy."

Teammate Kevin de Bruyne dedicated the win to Junior Malanda, who died in a car crash earlier this year.
