Half-Time Report: Dominant Wolverhampton Wanderers being held by Gillingham

League One title chasers Wolves enter the break goalless with 15th-place Gillingham despite dominating the opening 45 minutes at the Priestfield Stadium.

Wolverhampton Wanderers were frustrated by a number of near misses in their first half of dominance against Gillingham in tonight's League One action.

The promotion-chasing visitors to the Priestfield Stadium can climb to the top of the table with victory, but could not convert several good chances into a lead at the interval.

James Henry's inviting cross in the ninth minute was poked towards goal by a stretching Michael Jacobs, whose weak effort rolled into the gloves of Gills stopper Stuart Nelson.

Nelson was more severely tested later on in the first period when he dived full length to his right to palm a low strike from Jacobs around the post after the Wolves striker had created an opening with a mazy run.

He also saved well from Kevin McDonald's shot into the ground, which had been engineered by persevering work from Kevin Doyle, but may well have been helpless to prevent his side going behind had Leon Legge's wild clearance from Scott Golbourne's cross sneaked inside the post.

Nelson's first-half work was not flawless, though, as Henry again caused havoc with his delivery with a free kick which was spilt by the home goalkeeper, but a foul was given for Doyle's challenge on him as George Elokobi prepared to thrash in from close range.
