Half-Time Report: Kevin McDonald strike gives Wolves lead against Huddersfield Town

Kevin McDonald's curling shot gives Wolverhampton Wanderers the lead against Huddersfield Town.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are on course to move level on points with the playoff places after Kevin McDonald's spectacular individual goal gave them a half-time lead against Huddersfield Town.

The Terriers, who are unbeaten at Molineux since 1988, almost made an early breakthrough when Mustapha Carayol's effort seemed destined for the bottom corner, but for the intervention of keeper Emiliano Martinez.

Chris Powell's side were on the attack again on 11 minutes as neat build-up play from Harry Bunn and Emyr Huws presented Dean Whitehead with a chance, only for Martinez to clear his effort away at the near post.

After Sheyi Ojo nearly teed up a goal for Benik Afobe, Wolves finally took the lead when McDonald played a quick one-two before curling his shot beyond the reach of Jed Steer.

On the stroke of half time, Huws came close to bringing Huddersfield level, but his effort on the left side of box failed to find a way past Martinez.
