Winger Zeli Ismail has returned to parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers after being forced to undergo a knee operation.
Ismail has impressed on loan at Notts County this season, scoring four goals in 16 appearances, but the 20-year-old is expected to miss the remainder of the campaign after having an operation to repair cartilage in his knee.
The midfielder told the club's official website: "I picked up the injury at a time when I was playing and things were going really well both for me and the team.
"The decision was whether to trim the cartilage or repair it, and the surgeon has opted to repair it which is the better option in the long term.
"Unfortunately, it keeps me out for four to six months, which is pretty much the rest of the season. No one wants an injury like this but it is part of football."
Ismail has made 12 senior appearances for the Championship club.
