Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett hints that he could use midfielder David Edwards as a right-winger next season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett has admitted that he could employ David Edwards as a right-winger when the season gets underway in two weeks' time.

Edwards usually occupies a centre-midfield role, but after the Welsh international impressed on the right-hand side during Tuesday's friendly with Wrexham, Jackett has revealed that the 26-year-old could find himself there on a regular basis.

The 51-year-old told the Express & Star: "At Wrexham, Dave Edwards made a very good impression playing there.

"Dave had a lot of freedom and I'd think from that position, judging by the Wrexham game and going forward, it could bring out the best in someone who is very capable as an attacking midfield player rather than a natural winger.

"He sees himself as someone who likes to get forward, can create chances and score goals."

Edwards has made 144 appearances for Wolves since joining the club in 2008.
