Kenny Jackett expects Preston North End to provide his Wolverhampton Wanderers side with a "big test" on the opening day of the League One season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett has conceded that his side have been dealt a tough start to life in League One.

The Black Country outfit, who were relegated from the Championship last season, will open up in early August with a trip to Preston North End - one of the favourites for promotion.

"I think Preston away is a good start for us. They are a big club who have spent a lot of time in the Championship in recent years, so it will be a big test," he told the club's official website.

Jackett, who was appointed to the helm earlier this summer following the sacking of Dean Saunders, went on to challenge his players to bounce back from their recent demotion.

"There is understandably always a lot of interest in the fixtures but for me it is about concentrating on our performances and what we are going to do," he added.

"It's about us playing well, getting results and having a successful season. The players return next week and from there it's about putting a team together that will be ready to go for the start of the season.

"I want to see a reaction from the players to what has been a very disappointing time for the supporters."
