Richard Stearman is in contention to play for Wolves against Sunderland on Sunday despite breaking his hand a fortnight ago.

Richard Stearman is closing in on an early comeback from injury for Wolverhampton Wanderers, and could feature against Sunderland on Sunday.

The defender broke his hand against Everton at Goodison Park two weeks ago.

The 24-year-old underwent surgery and has progressed to full training over the past week.

"When it happened and I was in so much pain I thought I was going to be out for a long while," Stearman told the club's official website. "But the operation went really well and the surgeon was really good.

"The rehab has been doing great, I've been back out there training and all being well I should be available for selection."

Wolves host their North East opponents at Molineux this weekend.
