Wolverhampton Wanderers confirm that goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey will be out of action for six months with a knee ligament injury.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey will be sidelined for around six months with a knee ligament injury.

The Welsh international damaged his cruciate ligament during Saturday's 0-0 draw away at Sunderland.

"Our worst fears have been realised," said the club's head of medical services Steve Kemp.

"Wayne has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and will have surgery this afternoon.

"He will be out for around six months."

The 25-year-old has recently been linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers, although interim manager Terry Connor has insisted that the club will do everything they can to keep hold of him.
