Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey reportedly identifies Ian Holloway as his number one target to take over as manager.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly identified Ian Holloway as their number one choice to take over as manager.

The Midlands-based club will be playing Championship football next season following their relegation from the Premier League, which was confirmed last weekend.

Former assistant coach Terry Connor is currently in charge at Molineux but his future seems to be away from the club since he has failed to lead them to a single victory during his tenure to date.

The Wolves hierarchy have been impressed by Holloway's feat of steering the Tangerines to the playoffs, despite him being forced into selling several of his star names.

Charlie Adam, DJ Campbell and David Vaughan all left the club last summer and with Wolves facing similar circumstances at the end of this season, chief executive Jez Moxey is hoping he can perform a similar job at Molineux, according to The Mirror.

Connor originally took over from Mick McCarthy when the Irishman was sacked in February.
