Kevin Doyle has said that he is "delighted" for Terry Connor after Wolverhampton Wanderers drew 2-2 away at Newcastle on Saturday.
Connor was appointed manager of the Premier League strugglers following the dismissal of Mick McCarthy.
"It's been tough because everyone got on very well with Mick McCarthy. But Terry has been the manager for the last two weeks, anyway," Doyle said.
"It's been a transition, but at least it's been a smooth one. We're delighted he's got the job.
"We all hugged him afterwards because everyone was so happy to get something from the game."
Wolves are currently 16th in the Premier League, one point off the drop zone.
