Ethan Ebanks-Landell sends Wolverhampton Wanderers top

Ethan Ebanks-Landell proves the difference as Wolves capitalise on Leyton Orient's defeat and move top of League One.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have leap-frogged Leyton Orient at the summit of League One with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Notts County at Meadow Lane.

Both sides played out an entertaining first half without either team finding the net, but Ethan Ebanks-Landell struck a 76th-minute winner as Wolves move top of England's third tier following Orient's defeat to Preston North End.

Shaun Derry, taking charge of his first league fixture as Magpies boss, watched on as the visitors nearly took an early lead, with Bakary Sako thumping narrowly wide.

Both teams went blow for blow, culminating in an entertaining spectacle but neither could forge the opportunities necessary to break the deadlock.

However, Ebanks-Landell was on hand to bag the winner in the final quarter, capitalising from Richard Stearman's knock-down to smash home and earn his first senior goal.

Minutes later it should have been two with second-half substitute Bjorn Sigurdarson seeing his effort crash off the post, but it would not prove decisive as Kenny Jackett's men go top of the league.
