Report: Sammy Ameobi to join Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan

Sammy Ameobi will join Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan after signing a new deal with Newcastle United, according to reports.

Newcastle United winger Sammy Ameobi has decided to sign a new contract with the club and will join Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan, according to reports.

Ameobi was set to become a free agent this week after the Magpies allowed his deal to run down, but ESPN claims that the 23-year-old has been convinced to commit his future to the club.

However, the report suggests that Newcastle will allow him to begin the season on loan at Wolves, who are looking to replace Bakary Sako.

It remains unclear whether Ameobi will spend the entirety of next season with the Championship club and if Newcastle will have the option to recall him.

Cardiff were also rumoured to be interested in signing Ameobi, who made 27 appearances in all competitions last season and scored two goals.
