Big-spending Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg are reportedly considering a swoop for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg have reportedly placed Marouane Fellaini on a shortlist of midfield targets for the January transfer window.

Fellaini has been in superb form for Everton this season, scoring eight Premier League goals to put the Toffees in contention for a Champions League place.

Zenit are thought to be desperate to land a midfield partner for summer signing Axel Witsel, a Belgian international colleague of Fellaini.

A source from the Russian champions is quoted by The Sun as saying: "The management expect to strengthen midfield. The signings will be of high quality.

"Belgium international Marouane Fellaini is on the list. He has clearly proved himself for Everton."

Zenit crashed out the Champions League to compound a disappointing start to the season, placing Italian coach Luciano Spaletti under pressure.
