Lee Westwood's hopes of mounting a charge at the BMW PGA Championship have been ended after a triple-bogey seven on the 13th this morning.

The world number three started the day 13 shots off the pace set by the relatively unknown James Morrison and had moved to two-under before his nightmare at the par-four 13th.

Ian Poulter was the best of the morning starters, birdieing the first, fourth and eighth to climb to three-under-par, nine shots adrift of Morrison.

Luke Donald, who is chasing the world number one spot after Rory McIlroy missed the cut yesterday, goes out at 1.30pm with Peter Lawrie.
