Team England gymnast Kristian Thomas has insisted that he will aim to tweak his performance on the floor exercise after he finished with the lowest score in today's final at the SSE Hydro at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
The 25-year-old finished eighth with a score of 13.366 after failing to execute his second tumble during the routine, while his England teammate Max Whitlock won gold in the event.
Thomas was only entered into the final after England's Sam Oldham suffered an ankle injury earlier this week and was forced out of the Games.
Moments after the final came to an end, Sports Mole grabbed a quick chat with Thomas to discuss his performance and his feelings ahead of tomorrow's vault and horizontal bar finals.
You looked disappointed up there. How do you feel about an eighth-place finish?
"I wasn't actually in the floor final until Sam obviously got injured. I had a problem with the second tumble and I had a problem with that on Monday as well. It's obviously something to work on for the future. I'm still quite optimistic because I've got vault final, I've got bar final tomorrow and I hope I have a bit of success tomorrow."
So, despite the blip today, you still feel confident heading into tomorrow's finals?
"Definitely. They went well on Tuesday and in qualification, so hopefully I'm just going to try and repeat a similar sort of performance and hopefully can be different from today."
With team gold earlier this week, and Max Whitlock flying having picked up three golds so far, you must feel proud of how England are doing.
"Yeah, Max did a fantastic job again today. He's sort of been 'Mr Solid' in this whole competition so far. He deserved that gold medal on floor today and I wish him the best for the pommel finals - it should be a good one."
Canada's Scott Morgan sealed silver, while New Zealand's David Bishop nabbed bronze in this afternoon's floor final.
