Man comes forward in relation to Watford fan assault

A 20-year-old man comes forward after CCTV footage of a Watford supporter being attacked is released.

Police have confirmed that a 20-year-old man has come forward in relation to the assault on a Watford supporter.

Nic Cruwys was in left in critical condition in March after suffering a head injury in an alleged unprovoked attack after watching his side play Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 44-year-old was with a group of friends walking to the train station when he was assaulted in Littles Lane at around 5pm following Watford's 2-2 draw at Molineux.

On Monday, police released CCTV images of the attack and a man has contacted the authorities identifying himself on the footage.

"As a result of police releasing the image of a man we wanted to identify in relation to the assault on March 7 in Wolverhampton, a man telephoned officers in Wolverhampton last night and we will be speaking to him later today," ITV News quotes detective inspector Toni Naylor as saying.

The injuries sustained by the supporter have been deemed life threatening.
