The winner of this year's Oaks and King George, Taghrooda, has been retired with immediate effect.
The decision has been taken following the filly's performance at the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, where she finished third.
"Taghrooda has been retired. She has been wonderful and will be missed. In my time not since Salsabil have we had a filly this good, which shows how rare they are," Sheik Hamdan Al Maktoum's racing manager Angus Gold is quoted as saying by the Racing Post.
Taghrooda, who won on four of her six starts, will begin a breeding career next year.
