Super League roundup: St Helens top table after win

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from Friday's games in the Super League.

St Helens have moved to the top of the Super League table after cruising to a comfortable win over Salford Red Devils this evening.

The hosts finished the match with five tries, including a brace for Paul Wellens, who scored their opening and final tries of the night.

Niall Evalds and Gareth Hock got Salford on the board after the break, but they never threatened to get back into the tie.

Meanwhile, Leeds Rhinos slipped down to second after suffering a heavy defeat at the hands of Warrington Wolves.

Chris Bridge added two tries in the first half to leave the Wolves in control, before Joel Monaghan sealed the win after the break.

Kylie Leuluai scored the Rhinos' only try of the night, but the visitors struggled to maintain possession and launch a comeback in the second half.

Widnes Vikings needed a late try to share a 26-26 draw with Catalans Dragons, having held a comfortable lead at half time.

The home side scored four tries in the first half to leave themselves 20-10 up at the break, but efforts from Morgan Escare, Leon Pryce and Michael Oldfield gave the French side the lead.

However, Tom Gilmore managed to battle to the line with three minutes to play for Widnes, ensuring that the match finished in a draw.
