Prop Adam Jones has admitted that the British and Irish Lions without Brian O'Driscoll in the side will be "weird" when they face Australia on Saturday.

The Irishman wasn't included in the squad to face the Wallabies in Sydney, with Jones's compatriot Alun-Wyn Jones being handed the armband.

The decision by head coach Warren Gatland looks likely to spell the end of O'Driscoll's Lions career, and Jones believes that he will find it hard to get to grips with the 34-year-old not being in the team.

"Since I have been playing professional rugby, the one thing I've always associated with the Lions is Brian O'Driscoll," Jones wrote in his column for BBC Sport.

"So for him not to be playing on Saturday is a weird, odd feeling. It is strange not having him there.

"I guess he would have been a lot of people's favourite for the captaincy when Sam Warburton got injured, but the coaches have gone for Alun-Wyn Jones and I am sure it is a situation he will relish."

The Lions face Australia in the deciding Test on Saturday in Sydney.
