Report: Chris Robshaw to retain England captaincy

Stuart Lancaster is expected to name Chris Robshaw as his England captain for the Autumn Internationals.

Chris Robshaw is to be named as the England captain for their upcoming Autumn International matches on Wednesday, according to a report.

Some have expected the Harlequins flanker to miss out on retaining the armband for the Red Rose next month, with Northampton Saints forward Tom Wood thought to be a contender for the honour.

Robshaw has endured a turbulent few months after he missed out on a place in the British and Irish Lions squad for their successful tour win in Australia before being left at home by England for their trip to Argentina in the wake of criticism over his display against Wales in the Six Nations.

However, The Telegraph claims that head coach Stuart Lancaster will remain loyal to the 27-year-old for the upcoming Tests, having appointed Robshaw as his captain when taking charge nearly two years ago.

England face Australia, Argentina and New Zealand in November.
