Leicester Tigers captain Toby Flood has been ruled out of the club's Aviva Premiership opener against Worcester Warriors on Sunday through injury.
The England fly-half was left concussed during a pre-season friendly against Ulster last weekend and has not recovered in time for the match at Welford Road.
"We will stand him down for this weekend because on medical advice that was the right thing to do," Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill told the Leicester Mercury.
"He was concussed, but there are no broken bones and all the scans are clear, so that's all good."
Flood scored 176 points last season as Leicester won a 10th league title.
