James Haskell thrilled by Wasps triumph

Wasps captain James Haskell hails his side for thrashing London Irish 48-16 in their opening match at the Ricoh Arena.

Wasps captain James Haskell has praised his teammates for starting life at the Ricoh Arena with a 48-16 thrashing of London Irish.

Andy Goode scored a league-record 33 points on Sunday as Wasps earned a comprehensive victory in their first match at their new home.

Despite admitting that it took his side until the second half to get going, Haskell believes that they gave fans plenty to cheer about on an emotional day for the club.

"It was a great way to start here. We've finished one chapter and started a new one," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "It took us 55 minutes to really get going, but we were disciplined and controlled. We just hope we've done enough to make people want to come back here and watch us again."

Wasps continue their Aviva Premiership campaign on December 28 when they make the trip to Gloucester Rugby.
