A last-gasp Nick Evans penalty earned Aviva Premiership leaders Harlequins a 9-9 draw at bottom-placed Newcastle Falcons this evening.
The visitors took an early lead thanks to an Evans penalty, but Jimmy Gopperth's kick soon after saw the sides go in 3-3 at the break.
Evans struck early in the second half to give Newcastle a 6-3 advantage, but Gopperth again cancelled out the kick with a penalty of his own on an unusually inconsistent night for the number 10s.
The Falcons thought that they had secured a famous and much-needed win with eight minutes to play as Gopperth planted another kick between the posts.
However, Evans kicked over with the last play of the game to save his side from an embarrassing defeat.
