Plymouth Albion sign Max Crumpton from Saracens on loan

Plymouth Albion acquire the signature of hooker Max Crumpton from Saracens on a loan deal.

Plymouth Albion have added hooker Max Crumpton to their ranks on a loan agreement from Premiership outfit Saracens.

The 19-year-old joins the club having made four appearances for the England Under-20s following stints at Under-16s and Under-18s level.

"This season we have been running on just two hookers and that is always a bit risky," BBC Sport quotes coach James Shanahan as saying. "He is a good physical hooker who knows me and he knows my systems.

"I have been looking for another hooker for a while and when the A League matches finished I contacted Saracens about the availability of Max. We will see how the first month goes but I would like the loan to continue until the end of the season."

Crumpton previously played under Shanahan at Old Albanians.
