Mark McCall hails "pretty special" Saracens

Mark McCall admits that a "pretty special" first-half performance from his Saracens side played a big part in their victory over Bath in the Aviva Premiership final.

Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall has admitted that a "pretty special" first-half performance helped his side defeat Bath in the Aviva Premiership final.

Last year's beaten finalists went one better on Saturday as they lifted the trophy thanks to a 28-16 triumph at Twickenham.

Sarries did most of the damage in the opening 40 minutes with Owen Farrell, Jamie George and Chris Wyles all touching down.

"That feels really good," McCall told reporters. "Last year was painful, there was a lot of hurt, but we promised ourselves it wouldn't be an excuse for the season we had.

"We deserved nothing just because we had lost in the finals last year, so we had to earn everything we got. It's been an up and down season from time to time, but that first-half performance was pretty special and I'm thrilled we got over the line."

Saracens have now been crowned champions of England twice following their previous triumph in 2011.
