Scotland begin Autumn Internationals in style with win over Argentina

Scotland romp to a 41-31 victory over Argentina in the first 2014 Autumn International at Murrayfield.

Scotland have begun their Autumn Internationals in style with a 41-31 mauling of Argentina at Murrayfield this evening.

Although they ended the night in imperious fashion, the game began disastrously for the hosts as Javier Ortega Desio put Argentina ahead with a second-minute try.

However, Richie Gray hit straight back for Scotland after selling a sumptuous dummy to Manuel Montero.

Although Nicolas Sanchez then kicked Argentina back in front, Richie's brother Jonny Gray scored a try for himself before Sean Maitland dived over the tryline just three minutes later after an incisive Scotland move to give them a sizeable lead.

Stuart Hogg made it 29-10 to the hosts six minutes into the second half as a carnival atmosphere descended inside the stadium.

With 15 minutes remaining, Argentina thought they had made the scoreline a little more respectable when Tomas Lavanini bundled over the line, but the video referee denied them the score.

Nonetheless, they did earn their second try of the evening with eight minutes remaining when they were awarded a penalty try, but Scotland then went immediately up the other end and crossed for their fifth try through Tommy Seymour.

Despite a couple of late consolation tries from Tomas Cubelli, Scotland will be ecstatic with an entertaining win to kick off their Autumn Internationals.
