Luke Charteris will be out of action until December as he recovers from a wrist injury.

Wales and Newport-Gwent Dragons lock Luke Charteris is an injury doubt for Australia's visit to the Millennium Stadium on December 3.

Charteris is struggling with a wrist injury that will rule him out of the Dragons' Amlin Challenge Cup matches with Cavalieri Prato and Perpignan, and a PRO12 clash with the Scarlets.

"When he first got back [from the World Cup] it was a four-to-six-week injury so it quite possibly could be Australia if Wales pick him as his return match," Dragons coach Darren Edwards said.

"It's disappointing for us here at the Dragons that we can't get him out there on the field. But that's the nature of rugby."

The Australia Test is likely to be veteran winger Shane Williams's last in a Welsh jersey as he has announced his plans to retire from international rugby after the match.
