Ross Murdoch has admitted that it was a "mind-blowing" experience to win gold in the 200m freestyle final in front of the Scottish supporters on Thursday night.
The 20-year-old set a British record as he stormed clear of his rivals in the final 50m, and he was keen to pay tribute to fellow Scot Michael Jamieson, who was forced to settle for silver.
"I always dreamt I could do something like that in front of home crowd," Murdoch told BBC Sport. "I really thought I could challenge to be on the podium, and I'm pleased to have come out and done it. It's mind-blowing.
"Michael Jamieson is a hero to me, and someone I looked up to after the Olympic Games."
Jamieson was critical of his own display after the race.
