Stanislas Wawrinka has beaten fellow Swiss Roger Federer in straight sets in the quarter-finals of the French Open.
Wawrinka needed just over two hours to upset the second seed on Court Suzanne Lenglen to set up a quarter-final with either Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Kei Nishikori.
Federer could never match his compatriot's power and was on the back foot from the start, saving two break points in the opening game of the match.
In Federer's next service game Wawrinka dominated and broke to love before going on to serve out the set 6-4.
As in the opener, Federer had a shaky start on serve in the second, but again managed to hold on to take the lead.
The following five games were comfortable holds for both men before Wawrinka won four games in a row to grab the set 6-3 and take a 2-0 lead.
Neither man offered up a single break point in the third and it was eighth seed Wawrinka who came through 7-4 in a tie-break to book his place in the last four.
