Richard Gasquet beats Nikolay Davydenko in three sets to win the Qatar Open.

Richard Gasquet has won the eighth title of his career with a three-sets win over Nikolay Davydenko in the final of the Qatar Open.

The Russian was dominant in the first set, racing to a 3-0 lead before taking the set 6-3.

Gasquet found his stride in the second set, breaking Davydenko early before the 31-year-old hit back, leaving the Frenchman needing another break at the end of the set to take it to a tie-break and eventually claim the set.

Davydenko picked up an injury during the tie-break and spent several minutes off-court at the start of the third to receive treatment, but he was able to continue the match.

Davydenko seemed to have recovered, with the first four games remaining on serve, before Gasquet broke in the sixth game.

The 26-year-old served for the match three games later but the Russian found some resistance, before being broken in the following game to hand Gasquet the title.
