Albert Montanes upsets Alexandr Dolgopolov by clinching a straight-sets victory to reach the third round of the Barcelona Open.

Albert Montanes has shocked eighth seed Alexandr Dolgopolov by securing a 7-6(5) 6-3 victory to reach the third round of the Barcelona Open.

In the first set, Dolgopolov stayed strong on his serve and hit three aces in the process, while Montanes squandered a crucial break point.

Dolgopolov missed four break points of his own as the set was pushed to a tie-break, which Montanes was able to edge 7-5 to take the lead in Spain.

The second set started well in Montanes's favour as he was able to grab the first break and maintain his dominance on the court.

Dolgopolocv failed to create a break chance of his own and relinquished the set as Montanes moved onto the next round.
