Rafael Nadal is on course to secure his first grass-court title since 2010 after reaching the final of the Mercedes Cup with a straight-sets win over Gael Monfils.
The 29-year-old completed a 6-3 6-4 victory inside 80 minutes as the Frenchman struggled to keep up with the pace.
Monfils's serve was unconvincing throughout the contest as he conceded five double faults and failed to convert any of his four break points.
Nadal will face either Viktor Troicki or Marin Cilic in the final in Stuttgart.
