Serena Williams was forced to overturn a one-set deficit as she reached the quarter-finals of the Miami Masters thanks to a 2-6 6-4 6-2 victory over Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova this evening.
Many had tipped world number one Williams to record a routine win at her home tournament, but it looked as though she was heading for the exit when Cibulkova took the opening set 6-2.
However, the 23-year-old was unable to continue that level of performance thereafter and she allowed Williams to level up proceedings during the second set.
The decider was even more comfortable for 31-year-old Williams, who broke her opponent on two occasions to reach the last eight competition.
She will now take on China's Li Na, who defeated Spanish youngster Garbine Muguruza earlier today.
