Bernard Tomic has bowed out of the Miami Masters after he fell to the quickest defeat in ATP Tour history against Jarkko Nieminen.

The Australian, who was making his first appearance since undergoing surgery on both hips, lost 6-0 6-1 in a time of 28 minutes 20 seconds.

The opener saw Tomic win just three points, all of which came on serve, as Nieminen strolled into a one-set advantage in 13 minutes.

The 21-year-old got on the board in the second set, recording 10 points in seven games, but he was unable to stop himself suffering the fastest defeat since the ATP began keeping records in 1991.
