Serena Williams cruises to Miami Open title

Serena Williams drops only two games in winning the Miami Open final against Carla Suarez-Navarro.

Serena Williams won the Miami Open in Key Biscayne after a comfortable straight-sets victory over Carla Suarez-Navarro.

The world number one, who came into the final on the back of a 20-match unbeaten streak, was made to work for a breakthrough in the opening set as the Spaniard managed to hold serve early on.

However, Williams was able to break the 12th seed in the sixth game of the match and quickly broke again to wrap up the first set 6-2, with barely half an hour played in Florida.

Any hopes of a fightback from Suarez-Navarro were quickly extinguished as Williams won 21 of 25 points in opening up a 5-0 lead and ominously racing to the brink of victory.

The 19-time Grand Slam winner capped off an imperious display by winning the set to love, and the match in just over 56 minutes.
