Rafael Nadal sees off Jerzy Janowicz threat

Rafael Nadal beats Jerzy Janowicz in straight sets to progress through to the quarter-finals of the Montreal Masters.

Rafael Nadal is through to the quarter-finals of the Montreal Masters after he defeated Jerzy Janowicz in straight sets.

The Spaniard is playing in his first tournament since losing in the first round at Wimbledon, and he knew that he would have to play at his best to overcame the big-serving Pole.

Janowicz looked on course to take the first set on a tie-break when moving 5-2 ahead, but Nadal fired back to take six out of the next seven points.

The Polish player started the second with a break of serve to open up a 3-0 advantage, but Nadal immediately gained the break back.

That gave Nadal the momentum, and he continued to pressure Janowicz into mistakes, which eventually resulted in him securing a 7-6 6-4 triumph.
