Roger Federer pleased with display on big points in win over Philipp Kohlschreiber

Roger Federer believes that his display during the big points of the match was the difference between him and Philipp Kohlschreiber in his third-round win over the German.

Roger Federer has admitted that his performance in the key moments of the match was crucial to his victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber in the third round of the US Open.

The world number two saw his run of 78 consecutive service holds broken by the German, and he saw his serve broken once more in the match, although he was able battle back and secure his place in the last 16 of the competition.

"I think I won the big points today," Federer told ESPN. "The difference in the match was only five points [80-75].

"I served well at the end, even though it was a bit of an up-and-down match for us. It's good to get through in three sets, so I'm very pleased."

Federer will play number 13 seed John Isner in the next round on Monday.
