Andy Murray laughs off Fernando Verdasco accusations of lying

Andy Murray laughs off suggestions from Fernando Verdasco that he made up an accusation of the Spaniard talking to his coach during their match at the US Open.

Andy Murray has laughed off suggestions from Fernando Verdasco that he made up a story which indicated that the Spaniard had been talking to his coach during their match at the US Open.

The former world number one was trailing 2-1 in sets when a mandatory 10-minute break was enforced due to the humid conditions at Flushing Meadows, and it saw both players go back to the locker rooms.

Murray returned to inform the umpire that Verdasco was speaking with two members of his coaching team - which is not allowed - and an official and a supervisor were allowing it to happen.

Verdasco went on to secure victory in four sets to book his place in the last 32, and the 31st seed has claimed that he was talking to Marcos Baghdatis and his coach at a time when his own coach had been in the locker room to go to the toilet.

However, Murray has taken to social media to mock Verdasco's suggestion that he had fabricated a story midway through their contest, creating the hashtag 'liarliarpantsonfire'.

Murray will now take a break before deciding whether to represent Great Britain in the Davis Cup in September.
