Roberto Bautista Agut progresses after David Goffin withdrawal

Roberto Bautista Agut sets up a fourth-round clash against Novak Djokovic after David Goffin retires injured at the US Open.

Roberto Bautista Agut has progressed into the fourth round of the US Open after David Goffin withdrew in the fourth set, with the score at 2-6 5-7 6-3 3-1.

Goffin started the match convincingly and broke in games one and five to win the first set 6-2.

He traded breaks with Bautista Agut at the start of the second, and broke again in game 11 on the way to doubling his lead.

Bautista Agut pulled a set back after breaking in game six of the third and holding serve throughout.

The Spaniard then built up a 3-1 lead in the fourth set before Goffin retired due to illness.

Bautista Agut will meet Novak Djokovic in the fourth round.
