Novak Djokovic secures straight-sets victory over Andreas Seppi

Novak Djokovic defeats Andreas Seppi 6-3 7-5 7-5 at the US Open.

Novak Djokovic has defeated Andreas Seppi 6-3 7-5 7-5 to progress to the fourth round of the US Open.

The Serbian was broken in game three of the first set, but broke straight back to level the score at 2-2. Seppi then saved two break points in game eight but Djokovic took the lead at the third attempt and then held serve to win the opener.

The second set went with serve until game 11 where, after three deuces, Djokovic got the break. In the following game, Djokovic won his first set point to double the lead.

Seppi was broken early in the third set, before Djokovic saved three break points to hold in game four. The Italian then broke to prolong the match and level the score at 5-5, but Djokovic broke him straight back before holding serve to claim the straight-sets victory.
