Andy Murray named top seed in men's draw for Wimbledon

Andy Murray is named as the number one seed in the men's draw at Wimbledon as he prepares to defend his title.

Defending champion Andy Murray has been named as the number one seed in the men's draw for Wimbledon.

The Scotsman, who is ranked number one in the world, has not had the ideal preparation for the Grand Slam due to indifferent form.

The 30-year-old was knocked out of the first round at Queen's last week, and withdrew from an exhibition match on Tuesday due to a hip problem.

The good news for Murray is that he cannot face Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal until the semi-finals at the All England Club as they are seeded second, third and fourth respectively.

As for the women's side, Angelique Kerber is the number one seed, Simona Halep is second, Karolina Pliskova third and Elina Svitolina fourth.

Britain's Johanna Konta has been seeded eighth for the tournament.
