Milos Raonic ends Sam Querrey run to reach Wimbledon semi-finals

Milos Raonic progresses into the Wimbledon semi-finals courtesy of a four-set win over Novak Djokovic's conqueror Sam Querrey.

Milos Raonic has booked his place in the semi-finals of Wimbledon courtesy of a four-set victory over Sam Querrey this afternoon.

As expected in the battle of the big hitters, breaks were at a premium, but Raonic eventually won through 6-4 7-5 5-7 6-4 to reach the last four for just the second time.

Querrey, who memorably overcame world number one Novak Djokovic in the third round, won just three points on Raonic's serve throughout the opening set as he struggled to earn a breakthrough.

Raonic only created one break point himself until the final game of the set, but he finally won against the American's serve to take the opener 6-4.

It was more of the same in the second set as both players dominated their own serve until the final game, when once again Raonic found the break to move into a 2-0 lead.

The theme of the match, unsurprisingly, was big serves and short rallies, but Querrey finally registered his first break of the contest in the penultimate game of the third set to keep himself in the contest.

It was only a temporary reprieve, though, and once again it was a solitary break that proved decisive in the fourth set as Raonic won the final two games and sealed his progress with his first match point.

Raonic will now face either Roger Federer or Marin Cilic in the semi-finals.
