Half-Time Report: Carolina Panthers comfortable against New Orleans Saints

The Carolina Panthers score 17 unanswered points in the opening quarter to help them to a commanding 24-3 half-time lead over the New Orleans Saints.

The Carolina Panthers are in complete control of their NFC South clash with the New Orleans Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, taking a 24-3 lead into half time.

The Panthers opened the scoring on their first drive of the match as Cam Newton picked out Kelvin Benjamin on the left side of the endzone for a nine-yard score.

Graham Gano then extended the visitors' lead with a 37-yard field goal before Newton made his own trip into the endzone, leaping in from two yards for a score that sparked a melee between both sets of players.

The Saints finally got on the board early in the second quarter, but they could only come away with three points as Shayne Graham kicked a 37-yard field goal.

The Panthers moved 21 points clear towards the end of the half as Newton threw his second touchdown pass of the evening, this time finding Greg Olsen for a 16-yard score.
