Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been taken to hospital as a precaution after he was involved in a car accident in Charlotte on Tuesday.
Newton's truck overturned in the incident on a bridge near the Bank of America Stadium and he had to be attended to at the scene.
The 25-year-old was taken in an ambulance to hospital as a precaution, according to Steve Crump of WBTV.
Crump added on Twitter that a CMPD source revealed that there were no injuries to Newton and he was able to communicate with officers after the incident occurred. Images have surfaced of him conscious and smiling on the side of the road.
The Panthers have since confirmed the situation and they have assured fans that they will continue to provide more information at an appropriate time.
