Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather will appeal his two-game suspension by the NFL, according to a report.
The 29-year-old was banned by the league for repeated violations of the safety rules by hitting defenceless players in the head or neck area.
Meriweather's appeal will be heard on Wednesday by safety officers Tom Cottrell and Matt Birk to decide if the penalty should be rescinded, according to several media reports.
Earlier this year San Francisco 49ers safety Dashon Goldson had a ban rescinded by the panel in a similar incident.
