Arsenal team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Newcastle United

Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for Arsenal ahead of Monday night's match against Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal could sit outside the top four by the time they face Newcastle United on Monday night, with Manchester United and Chelsea both in action before them this weekend.

The Gunners currently enjoy a two-point lead over fifth-placed United and a three-point advantage over Chelsea, so they know that victory at the Emirates on Monday will see them end another gameweek with Champions League football still in their own hands.

Unai Emery's side won four and lost none of their five league games before the international break, but the visit of the Magpies will be their first domestic outing for more than three weeks.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for the Londoners.

ARSENAL'S INJURY LIST

Aaron Ramsey

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: April 1 (vs. Newcastle)

Aaron Ramsey's thigh injury was enough to rule him out of international duty with Wales, but the outgoing midfielder is expected to be fit in time for Monday's match.

Nacho Monreal

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: April 1 (vs. Newcastle)

Nacho Monreal played the full 90 minutes of Arsenal's last outing before the international break, but he has since picked up a slight calf strain which makes him a minor doubt for this match, although he too is expected to recover in time.

Granit Xhaka

Possible return date: April 1 (vs. Newcastle)

Granit Xhaka asked to come off after scoring during Switzerland's Euro 2020 qualifier with Denmark on Tuesday night complaining of adductor problems. The midfielder is due to be assessed on his return to Colney ahead of the weekend.

Hector Bellerin

Possible return date: Unknown

Rob Holding is currently sidelined with a similar injury to Bellerin's - suffered during a December Premier League meeting with Manchester United - and will also miss the remainder of the campaign.

Danny Welbeck

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Completing Arsenal's trio of lengthy absentees, Danny Welbeck's ankle injury has kept him out since November and may well have ended his career at the club with his contract due to expire this summer.

ARSENAL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Lucas Torreira
